Ford plans to bring out a new V6 in 2010 for the Mustang GT. This new 3.7L with direct injection and four valves per cylinder will produce more than 300 horsepower, and about 280 foot pounds of torque, but that’s not this engine’s party peace.
As you may or may not know, for most people the most important thing is getting good fuel economy from their vehicles during these times. In the near future, there’s little chance the situation will improve, which is why Ford wants to make the 2011 mustang an extremely efficient car. This TiVCT V6 will get 30 miles per gallon highway. At first that seems like a fantastic achievement, yet in the city it will only get 19 MPG. So like with all cars, it seems like just another case of not what you drive, but how you drive it. Still, if you keep the led foot out of the equation the 30MPG should help. Ford still say this is Americas Sports car, thanks to it’s performance capabilities, but we’ll see in the spring of 2010, which is when this new Mustang launches.
