Farfus takes the win at Porto, round 14 of WTCC

After having to deal with 8th place in today’s round 13 race, Augusto Farfus came back to take top spot in round 14 at Porto. He was able to get to the front quickly by taking advantage of incidents that took place.

Tarquini, the winner of the earlier race and pole position holder from qualifying, had to cut his day short as Nicola Larini turned into Tarquini’s SEAT, causing them both to hit the tire walls.

Tarquini cups top spot at Porto in WTCC

Gabriele Tarquini was able to cup his second win of the ‘09 WTCC season earlier today in round 13 of the WTC Championship. He had a brilliant weekend after also taking pole position during qualifying. However, 2 accidents on the 1st lap caused the race to be stopped. Jaap van Lagen crashed into Sergio Hernandez’s BMW, resulting in Hernandez crashing hard into the barrier. He had to be taken to hospital after he injured his left ankle, but medics say they have not seen any form of broken bones (good for him). van Lagen also did not finish. Later on in the same lap, Augusto Farfus in his BMW, bumped Alain Menu after passing Monteiro for 6th position, causing Menu to spin into the wall and ending his day.
