Now this is 360 degree coverage.
Pininfarina selling Grugliasco plant
Posted by Bradley Wint on October 19th, 2009 at 10:50 am

Pininfarina has announced that they will be doing some cost cutting by closing down its Grugliasco plant in Italy. They are doing this in an effort to cut down costs and streamline operations. It is also said to cut down of staff costs by 50%.
They will be moving their attention away from production of certain car body parts such as those for the Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet and Romeo Brera and Spider. FinPiemonte Partecipazioni will purchase the factory for 15 million euros and then will rent it out to Innovation in Auto Industry for 650,000 euros per year.
IAI will also purchase Pininfarina’s tooling and worker’s contracts and will take over the production of the above mentioned car parts. All this will help reduce the payload on Pininfarina’s plate. This will allow for them to focus on their eco projects including the Bluecar EV.

Start your car from anywhere in the world
Posted by Bradley Wint on October 16th, 2009 at 11:30 am

So you landed in JFK after a 14 hour flight. It’s snowing and you are dead beat tired. However your car keys are stowed away tightly somewhere in your carry-on luggage. Well why not bust out your iPhone and pre-start your car with the Viper StartSmart application.
Maybe you want to play a prank on your neighbor? Tell him you’re going on vacation to Japan. Park your car in the driveway though. Then go on vacation and wait about two days. Figure out when he usually is outside (maybe watering the lawn) and then start your car with the iPhone app from Viper. I think he would be a bit scared.
So how is it possible to start your car (and lock and unlock) your car with the application? If your car has a compatible Viper StartSmart alarm system, you can sync up the iPhone application with the car, so you can start, lock and unlock your car with your phone instead of with the wireless IR key. The big advantage of this is the larger range offered. The range is so large; it can be done virtually anywhere according to the folks at Viper.

Cars should look like this
Posted by Bradley Wint on October 16th, 2009 at 10:32 am

As we move towards a society where cars are powered by new sources of environmental energy, it seems that designers have forgotten how to make pretty cars. Also, most automakers are taking the wrong steps by trying to mimic the patterns of Asian automakers, but fail to realize that they had good design concepts back in the days, and never developed them.
Remember when cars looked good back in the 90s and early 2000s? Designer Emil Baddal from Iran has come up with some concepts of what some of today’s cars should look like. So why isn’t this guys the head of the design department at one of the big firms?
Take a look at the photos below and check out this link for a full gallery of his works.

Posted by Bradley Wint on October 15th, 2009 at 11:22 am

Just a quick update folks, we’ve added a neat feature for those who like to post comments. If you are in a hurry and can’t check back posts you commented on, or maybe you can’t remember the ones you commented on, well we have added a nice e-mail notification feature.
It’s like Youtube. If you post a comment and someone replies to you, you will get an e-mail. However we made it an optional feature. This allows you to choose which ones you want to receive notifications to.
Twitter users, please note that when you log in, an automatic profile is made for you. However since the Twitter API doesn’t allow us to get your e-mail from Twitter’s database, you will need to update your profile’s e-mail address for it to work properly. It’s just a one time update since our site will remember you when you re-sign in.
Tell us if you like it or not.
