Happy Carthusiast 2010!
Posted by Bradley Wint on December 31st, 2009 at 7:21 pm

Well folks, the year is come to a close, with many of you all already entering into a new decade.
Over the past 6 months, we’ve gone through quite a lot, with a pretty shaky start. After months of redesigns, staffing problems, legal issues and so on, we are finally making it as a source of reliable and up-to-date auto news. We’re slowly building our fan base, and hope things get even better in 2010.
With a vision to make our site more than just another blog, we’re working on creating a community where you all can interact with not just us, but with other car enthusiasts like yourself. In the the early weeks of 2010, we will be launching 2 new sub-sites. The first one which will goes on stream in a few days is our Job Board. We know that folks are sometimes looking for jobs in the auto industry, so we will be scoping the market and posting jobs on the board, so people looking for work in the auto-industry can check it for any possible opportunities. Also, we have made it so any firm interested in posting jobs can add listings themselves.
Later on in January, we will be launching our discussion boards. Rather than just chatting about news in each post, you can come to the forums and discuss anything you like, whether it be auto related or not.
New Volvo S60 concept with it’s own videogame
Posted by Ilia Lou on December 31st, 2009 at 2:03 pm

Volvo has pulled out a new concept model of the S60, which is suppose to be faster, better looking, and safer then the normal S60. However they don’t put too much of a spot light on speed, most of it is on safety. This car will feature electronic aids such as adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, and collision warning with full auto brake. The engine is nothing special, it’s a 1.6L 180 horsepower high efficiency engine, which was designed to be economical and environmentally friendly.
Here’s something a bit more interesting though, Volvo has teamed up with SIMBIN development team to create, “Volvo the game”. It’s basically a simulator where you drive the S60 around a track, and the download is free.
Louisiana Car Insurance Rates to climb in 2010
Posted by Bradley Wint on December 31st, 2009 at 9:28 am
The folks of Louisiana will see an increase in the car insurance premium as of January 1st 2010 due to an increase in the limits of liability coverage offered by insurance firms.
The piece of legislation was approved back in 2008, which resulted in insurance minimum payouts being increased from a 10-20-10 ratio to 15-30-25 ratio. This corresponds to $15,000 in bodily injury, $30,000 in bodily injury per accident, and $25,000 in property damage (coverage). Obviously because payouts have been increased, premiums will also be increased to compensate.
According to Insurance agent Katie Huval, each customer may end up having to pay $15-20 more per month on their policies. With this in mind, insurance policy holders should check with their agents to find out how to re-adjust their policies to possibly still save even after the increases.
Aston Martin Cygnet limited to Aston owners
Posted by Bradley Wint on December 31st, 2009 at 8:00 am

If you don’t own an Aston Martin (the bigger ones), then don’t bother trying to get your hands on this upgraded Toyota iQ.
According to an article in Aston Martin’s winter issue magazine, the limited edition vehicle will be sold to those who already own Aston Martins. Otherwise, there is nothing else new to tell about the little hatch. Just a little recap about the car: It’s based of the current Toyota iQ and has mostly visual upgraded including an Aston Martin re-styled front and back kit resembling that of the DB9 and Rapide. The interior is also jazzed up in some fancy red and black leather. Under the hood you get a 1.3L doing 97bhp engine. Only 2000 units will be manufactured at an increased price of $33,000 – $35,000. Folks in the US won’t be able to get their hands on this either since Aston Martin intended this for the small european roads within their conjested cities.
Check out this post for some pretty pics.

What to Do After a Car Accident
Posted by Bradley Wint on December 30th, 2009 at 10:00 am

A car crash; something we never want to experience, not only because of the actual dangers, but also because of the distress and inconvenience it causes in the aftermath. Everyday, somewhere across the globe, an accident happens, whether it be a minor fender swipe or a major head on collision. Some of them are even fatal. Accidents are unavoidable, whether it be once in a lifetime or one every few years, so you best be prepared to deal with it rather than live the lie and think that accidents are 100% unavoidable.
You should always be prepared to take certain measures after a vehicular accident to make the whole process as easy as possible for everyone. Here are some steps and tips to note in case you ever were to get into one of these fender benders.

Libsyn logo resembles The Stig driving an iPod
Posted by Bradley Wint on December 30th, 2009 at 8:00 am
I came across this gem on Reddit’s Top Gear channel. It seems that Libsyn’s recent logo resembles The Stig from Top Gear, driving an iPod.
Maybe the guys at the BBC won’t like this, and may even send the Libsyn a 10-billion page legal document stating that they are violating Top Gear’s trademarks, copyrights and patents. However, I have some doubts since the guy is driving the iPod. Maybe they got permission to use The Stig with a music themed car, or maybe the Libsyn guys are just trying to be creative to attract more visitors to their service.
There was an interesting comment in response to the post by a guy named calvin521. He said “Some say he hates Apple and that he hates music.. all we know is that, he is NOT The Stig, but he is, the Stig’s iPod driving cousin!” Now just imagine that sentence being said through the mouth of Jeremy Clarkson.

Ralf Schumacher eyeing Formula 1 return
Posted by Bradley Wint on December 29th, 2009 at 2:59 pm

Ex-F1 driver, current DTM driver, current brother to the 7 time F1 world champion Ralf Schumacher has stated that he is interested in an F1 return if the right offer is made to him.
Ralf has stated that the desire to to return to F1 is “burning” inside him. On another note, he mentioned that his desire to return had nothing to do with competing with his older brother, but simply because he liked it. He told German DPA Press this:
“Competing against Michael is not that important for me
“In any case, I would seriously consider an interesting and attractive offer to drive in a competitive Formula One team.”
Currently he races in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) series, where is racing luck isn’t any good either, so the real question is, who would want him to race after his poor career history?
Vin Diesel-inspired diesel sports car
Posted by Bradley Wint on December 29th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

Imran Othman’s frustration for high fuel prices has led him to develop a an alternative sports car using diesel fuel. Fortunately this concept actually is a viable option, since many of today’s racing teams in the LMS and Touring Car Series are winning races against other petrol-powered racers.
On another note though, his objective was to promote illegal street racing, which really isn’t something we condone. Anyway, so here are the screens.
